💡 Have a fuller bust?
If your full-bust vs upper-bust difference is ≥ 2¾″ (7 cm), we’d love your help testing this pattern for curvy sewists.

Your Customized Fit

This is a custom-fit pattern based on 8 body measurements. It is designed with the following assumptions built-in:

  • The wearer has boobs (the front bodice is darted).
  • Height is between 4'11" (150 cm) and 5'11" (180 cm).
  • Full bust is between 31½" (80 cm) and 51" (130 cm).
  • The difference between full bust and upper bust is ≤ 2⅜" (6cm).
  • We did, however, design this pattern to accommodate a bust difference of up to 5" (13 cm) -- if your difference is ≥ 2¾" (7 cm), we'd love to have you test it!

The Aether's ease includes:

The lavender/floral dress is made from lightweight viscose/rayon with no modifications. The model is 5'3" (160 cm), with a 37" (94 cm) bust and a 35" (89 cm) upper bust.

The mint/leaf top is made from a lightweight linen/cotton blend with the same model as above. This version uses a pattern generated with ¾" (2 cm) less at the bust and upper bust than the model’s actual measurements, lengthened by 1¼" (3 cm), and finished with side pockets. Note: the pocket for View B is not included in the pattern, but is available as video tutorials (drafting, sewing).

Your Customized Pattern

Supporting projector and A4/US Letter, our custom pattern generation system takes your measurements and draws the pattern on the fly in a PDF file. What exactly does this mean?

  • A unique pattern for every body – each of us gets a slightly different version.
  • Save time on adjustments – blending sizes and bust adjustments are already handled.
  • Adjustable ease – enter different numbers for a looser or closer fit.
  • Fitting is still part of the process – just like any other garment pattern.
  • Guided adjustments – toiling/fitting instructions are built into the sewing steps.

Fabric & Supplies

Main fabric

  • Light-weight or mid-weight woven with some drape. E.g. chambray, crepe, challis, lawn, double gauze.

  • Allow more fabric usage with narrower width.
  • More details in our fabric usage chart.

Interfacing

  • Woven or non-woven fusible interfacing lighter weight than the main fabric.
  • About ½ yd (0.5m), at least 39” (100cm) wide.

Mitering A Double-Folded Corner with Uneven Lengths
A mitered corner is a tidy, diagonal seam that joins two folded edges at a corner, creating a clean, flat finish with minimal bulk. They are more commonly seen in quilting and home decor than garment sewing, but they do occasionally pop up in bodice...
